Light and Bright Treatment at DCCM™

Are you looking for a younger fresher look?

With advanced technologies, we can enhance our appearance. If you are looking for a successful treatment to help you reclaim your skin’s youthful look, texture, and tone, then the light and bright treatment offered at DCCM™ is suitable for you. The light and bright treatment restores that proper glowing skin. Youthful and glowing skin is the most requested treatment from patients worldwide. As we age, our skin changes on a variety of levels. The light and bright treatment is the first of its kind to address the various levels of aging in one treatment. During the aging process our skin becomes left smooth and unwanted pigmentation in small vessels can begin to rear their ugly little head. Overtime sun exposure will accelerate the signs of aging. The light and bright treatment will help minimize those signs of aging, improve skin texture and lessen the appearance of annoying vessels. The light and bright treatment can help rejuvenate your skin by rejuvenating the sun damage, reducing redness, lightening up age spots and freckles along with dark spots, and improving the skin’s overall tone and texture.

The light and bright treatment is a non-ablative treatment that delivers a combination of technologies designed to address surface-level irregularities and affect the dermis or what we refer to as the middle layer of the skin. The Frax 1550 technology rejuvenates the skin by delivering tiny, controlled bursts of energy only to the treated area to reduce textural irregularities. The energy delivered stimulates the dermis (the middle layer of the skin and the production of collagen.  The ellipse IPL technology will refresh the skin by using a similar small, controlled burst of light that directly target blood vessels or melanin within your skin. Melanin is what causes discoloration in your skin. The IPL also reduces the coloring of age spots, freckles, redness and overall sun damage. The light and bright treatment is a combination of the fax 1550 technology along with the IPL technology. Combining treatments enhances one’s overall treatment satisfaction.

Patients can expect their healthcare provider to initiate a consult prior to treatment. The consult is where you will meet with your provider to discuss your treatment goals. It is essential that you avoid sun tanning, and even self-tanning products prior to your treatment. The light and bright treatment consist of three sessions, but this may vary according to the area being treated and your corrective goals. Your healthcare provider will review with you how many sessions you need. An anesthetic numbing cream is used to reduce discomfort during the treatment. The treatment procedure will generally take between 30 and 45 minutes, with an additional numbing time of about 30 minutes. After your treatment, your skin may benefit from applying a cold, damp cloth to your face and using Aquaphor. Your prescriber may recommend additional at-home care. Not adhering to strict protocol pre and post care can decrease the treatment outcome and increase the risk of complications. You may notice a thin layer of your skin sloughing off. Sunspots will begin darkening as some of the pigment rises to the surface. This will continue for several days following the treatment. Do not pick, scrub or peel any of the sloughing skin. Your skin will be fragile and needs to heal on its own. The skin is an incredible organ; trust in it, and trust in your provider, it just needs time to heal. If you are looking to rejuvenate and refresh your skin the light and bright treatment at DCCM™ is the way to go.

Pre-treatment Instructions

One month prior, avoid sunbathing, tanning beds, and self-tanners.

Wear sunscreen with zinc and titanium dioxide daily.

Moisturize your skin daily to keep it hydrated and healthy.

One Week Before Light and Bright Treatment at DCCM™:

Avoid the use of photosensitization medication and medication such as Retin-A or glycolic acid.

One day before your treatment:

If you have a history of herpes simplex virus, you will want to take a prescribed antiviral medication. If you do not have this on hand be sure to contact the team at the DCCM and they will make sure you have this available. On the day of the treatment, inform your provider if anything has changed regarding your medication or your medical history. For smokers it is essential that you avoid smoking cigarettes for at least 48 hours prior to the treatment as smoking restricts the vessels and makes the treatment less successful.

Post-treatment Care:

Immediately post-treatment, you will apply sunscreen to all treated areas and avoid sun exposure.

On the day of the treatment avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, hot tubs, or any activity that may cause excessive heat to the treatment area for a minimum of 24 hours.

A feeling of itchiness may be noticed. Itching is perfectly natural and you may take a Zyrtec or other antihistamine to curb the feeling. Do not scrub or scratch the treated areas.

Apply a thin layer of Aquaphor or Alastin Necter to the treated area.

Do not apply products that may cause your skin to react negatively.

Do not use peels, aggressive cleansers or exfoliators for a minimum of 1 to 2 weeks. Should you have any questions on the products you can use post care please contact your team at DCCM.

Note the treated pigment may become darker following the treatment this is an anticipated effect and may be covered up by make up after the 48 hour.

Inform your provider immediately if there is continued or severe discomfort or any signs of blistering or infection. This is highly uncommon, however requires immediate attention. The providers at DCCM™ have a rich and long history of medicine; therefore, they can quickly help manage any complications that may arise post treatment.

With benign pigmented lesions, the pigmented treatment will slough off as the skin renews. This takes 7 to 21 days. Do not scratch or pick up the areas. Let the process happen naturally; otherwise, you can scar and pigment the area.

After vascular lesion treatment you will notice slight redness, and itchiness. This is common for a few minutes to a few hours after the treatment. Dry skin or peeling may be noted after the treatment. Apply moisturizer or a thin layer of Aquaphor and do not pick or peel as you will permanently scar your skin. 1 to 2 weeks post-treatment, continue avoiding direct sun if possible. Be sure to always wear your sunscreen and reapply every two hours continue using your daily moisture to help hydrate and maintain your skin’s health.
