Is Botox really safe for me?
The answer is easy…YES and NO!
It is safe when you are in a trusted board-certified practitioner’s hands with years of experience. It is not safe to get your Botox at the pop-up new clinic with non-medical professionals operating it. This type of business model may not be the safest place to be as they lack the medical understanding of anatomy and or even the laws surrounding the administration of Botox.
Risks
Botox injections are relatively safe when performed by an experienced provider.
Possible side effects include:
- Pain, swelling or bruising at the injection site
- Headache or flu-like symptoms
- Droopy eyelid or cockeyed eyebrows
- Crooked smile or drooling
- Eye dryness or excessive tearing
Although very unlikely, it’s possible for the effect of botulinum toxin to spread to other parts of the body and cause botulism-like signs and symptoms. Call your provider right away if you notice any of these effects hours to weeks after receiving Botox:
- Muscle weakness all over the body
- Vision problems
- Trouble speaking or swallowing
- Trouble breathing
- Loss of bladder control
Tara at Delle Chiaie Cosmetic Medicine recommends against using Botox when you’re pregnant or breast-feeding.
Select your provider carefully
Botox must be used only under a board-certified Nurse Practitioner, Surgeon, or Physicians care. It’s important that injections be placed precisely in order to avoid side effects. Botox therapy can be dangerous if it’s administered incorrectly. It is extremely important to ask your provider if they have experience and how many injections they have performed. If they are fresh out of a course be sure that they have an experienced provider in the office. Ask for a referral from your primary care doctor or look for a provider who specializes in your condition and who has experience in administering Botox treatments.
Tara has years of experience in treating facial wrinkles with Botox and is highly sought after by other professionals for training all over the country. Delegates come near and far to train under Tara due to her professionalism and dedication to the industry.
A skilled and properly certified practitioner can advise you on the procedure and help determine if it best suits your needs and health.
