Head to toe we have the hairy truth about the best treatments for hair regrowth.
Your hair is one of the very first things you see in the mirror each and every day. It further defines our style and can directly affect our self esteem. Unexpected hair loss is never an easy thing to accept.
Millions of Americans experience hair loss according to the American Hair Loss Association. Furthermore, 66% of men will experience some form of hair loss by the age of 35. As we age, hair is like grass, it grows in places we don’t want it but never where we want it.
There are solutions to help and Tara has devised a plan to help.
First we draw your blood to be sure there isn’t an underlying disease process exacerbating the process.
Once the labs are resulted we then can move forward with PRP otherwise know as Platelet Rich Plasma. This is a process of repurposing your very own blood. Our goal is to extract the platelets circulating in the plasma component our blood which contain growth factors. These growth factors are concentrated in the resulting serum extracted and then strategically injected into the scalp to stimulate hair regrowth. Hair grows slowly at 1.25 cm a month. So this is not your immediate results treatment. In order to see maximal results we recommend 3-6 sessions every 4 weeks. The results of PRP are continually evaluated and if you are deemed a PRP responder we will then move forward with your maintenance sessions which will be 2-3 times per year.
These injections are safe as it is your own blood and nothing foreign for your body to reject. Downtime is minimal and you can return to work and normal activity immediately following treatment. Real Self gave this treatment a 96% rating.
In addition to treating the hair loss there are ways to prevent it as well. Hair loss or androgenetic alopecia can be prevented or slowed down with the use of Finasteride and Minoxidil along side the PRP. The Finasteride is a prescription medicine that a patient takes twice a day. It works by blocking the conversion of the male hormone DHT (dihydrotesterone) and helps to prevent or at least reduce the hair loss.
Minoxidil is an over the counter medication that the patient applies twice a day to reverse the effects of miniaturization of the hair. Coupled with PRP this will keep the hair follicles at their best.
